Bhigu Dhodh, the waterfall at Koshmal village, is what Gira Falls was before the parking lot. A serious monsoon cascade twenty kilometres from Waghai that almost nobody outside the surrounding villages visits. The route runs from Waghai toward Bhenskatri on SH-171, right after the river bridge at Dungarda, then uphill twenty minutes to a village with no tourist setup whatsoever.

From the road it is about a thirty-minute walk to the falls, and despite a visible trail, first-timers reliably lose it, which is why a local guide is not a nicety but a requirement. The forest department has posted warning signage after past incidents; the rocks and the flow deserve the caution. One practical trap: mainstream maps place the village wrong, search for 'Kusmal' and confirm with people, not pins.

July to September is the window. Expect a proper drenching-green Dang experience, carried entirely on your own supplies and judgement.

Highlights

  • Forceful monsoon fall with near-zero footfall
  • Twenty minutes uphill past Dungarda, then a 30-min walk
  • Local guide essential, the trail misleads first-timers
  • Forest-department warnings mark the real risk

Traveller tips

  • Maps mislead here, search 'Kusmal' and then trust people over pins
  • Combine with Gira Falls for a tame-vs-wild waterfall double
  • Kilad campsite makes the natural overnight base

Safety

  • Heed the forest-department warning boards: there have been incidents here
  • Do not enter the flow or cross wet rock shelves
  • Go in a group with a village guide and daylight margin

Questions people ask

Why do I need a guide if there's a trail?

The trail looks obvious and still loses first-timers, and the forest department's warnings exist because of past incidents. A village guide costs little and removes both problems.
